Your Young Ones Deserve A Clean Planet And You Are Able To Help To Make That Happen

January 4th, 2012

Globally nature is being alarmingly impacted by man-made emissions, spillage and effluent, two of the most obvious effects being climate change and acid rain. It would be wonderful if we could live on this amazing planet without destroying it in the process. How wonderful it would be if we could breathe clean air in our cities, uncontaminated by poisons and toxins due to our way of living. Regrettably pollution caused by us humans has made this not possible; in fact you’ll be breathing in toxic fumes that can have undesirable effects on your health as well as the environment.

Our vast oceans, which make up almost all of the earth’s surface, are being poisoned by pollutants, mainly toxins and oil, which have a devastating impact on the life found in the ocean and as a result of that it affects us. The harvesting of fish used to provide many people with a livelihood, but pollution is rapidly putting paid to those livelihoods. Since way back in time, fishing has fed and given economic means to a substantial section of our population, all of which is already being taken from many. An illustration of how we are destroying the ocean is with oil spills, a recent example of this is the Deep water Horizon spill which left many people unemployed and cost billions of dollars to sort out. A huge amount of wildlife died in that episode, not simply fish but birds as well, affecting the whole eco system which can cause no end of problems in the food chain. A sad example of mankind prioritizing its short-term demand for oil, a dead substance, over the well-being of the earth and its other inhabitants.

Billions upon billions are allocated to oil exploration when the money could be invested investing in alternative green energy methods or research into green energy. Existing green energy alternatives, which do no damage to the environment, are capable of supplying a lot of our energy needs. One alternative which is able to heat water and also provide energy, is solar panels, which are very efficient in sunny locations. And something that’s just as simple in concept, wind turbines, uses another free resource (wind) to provide energy. So long as the wind blows – and many turbines work effectively at low wind speeds – a wind turbine will work, which is a neat advantage. Oil damages the earth and it will ultimately run out, so it’s important to invest in green energy production now more than ever. If we did that, global warming plus the other ruinous consequences of pollution could actually be stopped, and just possibly reversed.

The immediate beneficiaries will be ourselves, and of course our descendants in the longer term. We don’t wish our youngsters to grow up in a world that has erratic weather and dreadful conditions; we want them to grow up in a beautiful world where they can be proud of the planet and all it has to offer.
